The Japanese railway company, Wakayama Electric Railway, has seen a 10% increase in profits over the last year because of the stationmaster at one of the unmanned stations on the Kishigawa Line - a nine-year old cat called Tama.
After she was appointed stationmaster, she became a major tourist attraction and now she even has her own range of merchandise, that includes picture books, snacks and buttons. When Tama puts her front legs together the pattern of her fur makes a heart shape, which is said to be good luck if couples see it.
Due to her hard work over the last year, she has recently been promoted to division chief. Only in Japan...
