Every economic crisis has led to changes in lifestyle and worldview of people. Sometimes these changes are minor and transient, sometimes very serious and durable.

According to the American Center for Studying Health System Change at the end of 2008 approximately 20% of Americans have trouble paying medical bills. As a result, they limited the number of their drugs, medical treatment only if absolutely necessary. The Center predicts that, as the deepening of the crisis, these trends can only worsen. At the same time, the U.S. Department of Health reported that in 2008, U.S. hospitals had a significantly lower medical procedures and "unnecessary" surgery. In the wake of the crisis in the U.S. also began to decline to produce smaller operations in laser vision correction and cosmetic surgery.

A similar situation in other industrialized nations. For example, a study of World Bank, showed that under the impact of the crisis South Korea - especially middle and low income - dramatically reduced their medical costs. In the first place, they prefer to save on visits to medical specialists.
One of the consequences of economic problems is the growing popularity of religion. Economics and Development Resource Center has analyzed the impact of the Asian financial crisis in the society of Thailand, South Korea and the Philippines. As it turned out, a time of economic hardship people are significantly less likely to attend the church, mosques and temples and even less to pray. The reason was simple: many of these countries have tried to work on two or more jobs, spending more time in search of cheap food and goods, etc., which reduces the amount of time they can spend on the spiritual life.

The crisis typically leads to a reduction in the popularity of restaurants, bars and cafes that sell alcohol, but it is not conducive to sobriety. Consumers are beginning to buy alcohol cheaper drinks in the stores, which prefer cheaper varieties. In doing so, people are drinking more - in order to relieve stress and forget. Many are beginning to drink and people who before the difficult times are not fond with similar kind of leisure.

This phenomenon was observed in almost all Muslim countries in the world. For example, World Health Organization in 2004 published the results of a survey of Argentina, which had just experienced a large-scale financial crisis. In the first year of attendance at the crisis of institutions and bars where alcohol is sold, fell by more than 25% and wine sales in stores increased by 32%. Something similar happens now. For example, a company Brown-Forman Corporation, which produces drinks such as Jack Daniels whiskey and vodka Finlandia, in early 2009, reported a steady increase in sales.
The link between rising levels of crime and the economic disruption has not been proven unequivocally, although there are many scientists who believe that it is real. For example, a multi-year FBI statistics clearly shows that during the financial crisis has increased the number of frauds. Investigation of Mortgage Asset Research Institute showed that in 2008 the number of fraud related to mortgages in the US grew by 45%. At the same time increasing the level of violence, including the family. According to the National Institute of Justice United States, the number of such crimes, especially the sharp increase in families and the areas most affected by unemployment and reduce incomes.
In this regard, revealing the history of New York. Rapid growth of crime in the megalopolis of the 1970's coincided with a major recession in the US. Companies Wall Street suffered losses, tax revenues are declining, with the result that the municipality was forced to reduce the number of police officers and to cut social programs designed to help the poor. This has meant that New York has become unpleasant and unsafe to live - it left more than 1 million people, mainly representatives of the "middle class".

The economic crisis also contributed to the fact that organized crime has an opportunity to acquire control of legitimate businesses. Thus, a Cross-Regional Research Institute United Nations Crime and Justice found that organized crime groups, many of which are associated with the drug, now buying up large blocks of shares and make considerable financial injections in the problem banks.

Traditionally, the economic crisis led to a reduction in the number of tourists. The logic is simple enough: at lower incomes and rising unemployment among people have less money to spend, they can spend on leisure and entertainment. However, this dependence is not absolute. For example, University of Queensland examined the effects of the Asian crisis of the late 1990's to the local industry to international tourism. As it turned out, the number of foreign tourists visiting these countries actually declined, but in those States that have devalued their currencies, a sharp decline was observed, and the restoration of the market started unexpectedly early.
Data Institute for Study Abroad at Butler University have shown that in times of economic crisis has reduced the number of students going to get education in foreign universities. Generally, they prefer a more affordable alternative at home.

Study of economists from the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University concluded that the economic crisis make it possible to cultivate a more reasonable generation. The study analyzed the data on Americans, whose children went to the Great Depression. As it turned out, the attitude towards life among these people is different from the behavior of their parents and children. "Depressed" Americans are more inclined to avoid financial risks (for example, they rarely lured the most tempting offers), but more often invest money in the stock market rather than keep them in a spatter-dock.
