How Fast is Your Website?

At WikiWorldBook, we are constantly looking for ways of making our website faster and easier to use.

We end up using all kinds of third party tools when we do this. One of the neatest tools I have recently come across for timing how fast pages are is WebWait.

It's not the most complex tool I have used for this kind of work - you can get tools that will examine your load times from different countries around the world, for example, but it is one of the easiest and slickest, which is why I thought it was worth noting.

Does Website Speed Matter?

It obviously matters to your visitors, which is why we, and all other commercial sites, seek to make their sites as fast as possible.

But in case you are wondering whether speed affects your Google rankings, the answer is no (unless you have server issues and are 20 seconds+ slow), according to the famous Matt Cutts in this Google video:-

Give it a go!
