Hi Michael - I noticed that your profile says that your research focuses on the deployment of broadband infrastructure and services. I was wondering whether you know people at TCI Infrastructure who roll out base stations for mobile phone operators in Australia and the UK? I used to work in the same building as the UK crew.

Hi Ben - No, I don't know anyone from TCI. I look at broadband infrastructure from a political science perspective, particularly in comparison with other countries. I am currently in Jordan (Middle East) conducting fieldwork as part of my research. I will be publishing my findings of a comparison of Canada, Australia and Jordan next year. But I will have a look at TCI - might be worthwhile interviewing someone from the company when I return. Cheers, Michael.

Sounds rather high powered - and it sounds like the overseas postings are good too!

This is TCI's website in Oz - http://www.tcipl.com.au/

I think the UK operation changed direction into renewables like wind farms in the UK and Quebec because they got squeezed by both increasing competition and a reduction in infrstructure spending by the operators.
