Kathy was my best friend. We shared the stage at Rockport Fulton Jr. High, at the spelling bee & when we tried out for the cheerleading squad. Her father was the park ranger at Goose Island State Park, where the pink flamingos roost twice yearly, & whooping cranes can be found. We hosted a huge teen party at the reacreation center; complete with blacklights & posters, a strobe light, & a disc jockey. We wrote many letters to each other.
