Forum TopicNo More Message Spam On WikiWorldBook
As of today we have integrated a powerful new spam filter into the WikiWorldBook message system. This means that we are confident that members will not receive a single spam message in future.
We apologise to everyone who has received unsolicited messages over the last couple of weeks. It looks like some members received one or two unsolicited messages from people who needed a western bank account “to deposit their $10 million dollars” into before an evil uncle took the money off them. Very sad, we know, but not true either! When we built WikiWorldBook, we didn’t believe that spammers would waste their time manually spamming people one by one, so we didn’t bother guarding against it. Unfortunately we were wrong and we have therefore acted to correct this situation. We didn’t want to announce that we were building a new spam filter before it was in place for obvious reasons, so we hope that you have not been too inconvenienced in the meantime. In the unlikely event you do get something you regard as spam that perhaps we didn’t, please report it to us as soon as possible as this will help further enhance our system. Thank you for your patience. The WikiWorldBook Team
