- Founded in Canada in 1971, the Greenpeace Foundation set out to oppose the testing of nuclear devices and global warming, though more recently they have become identified with the anti-whaling movement. With national and regional offices in many countriesand an international presence worldwide. Greenpeace International is based in Amsterdam. The global organization receives its income through the individual contributions of an estimated 2.8 million financial supporters, as well as from grants from charitable foundations.
