Newspaper aimed at the Chinese community outside China, initially published from New York in 2000. Distributed in 30 countries, 11 languages in print and theoretically, 17 languages on the web. In August 2002, it was reported that 400,000 to 500,000 copies were available worldwide.  The Epoch Times content is generated by the production of a master copy on the web, from which local regions draw their content to give the paper a community feel. The Epoch Times, while heavily censored in Communist China has been awarded a special media prize from the International Society of Human Rights, and the top award by the Asian American Journalists Association. It has been fundamental in breaking many stories regarding the internal workings of China, including the SARS epidemic.
