I am a small town woman from Northwest Iowa. Theater is one of the most important aspects of my life. Storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to change and make the world a better place. I want to be a part of that kind of theater world. I am currently an MFA candidate in Stage Management at the California Institute of the Arts. I have been involved in the arts my entire life and one of my greatest passions is to tell stories. As a stage manager of theater, I am in the business of making sure stories are told. I aid in the process of voices being heard. Stage Managers, too often, are only seen as this technical element that makes rehearsals run smoothly and calls Q’s exactly when they are told to. This is a waste of all that a stage manager is truly capable of. I am an artist and am as much a part of the artist process as the rest of the artistic team. Although being a part of theater is my main goal (and that means being a part of it anywhere), I do have a dream of becoming a Chicago Stage Manager. Chicago is a wonderful city with a very active theater scene. The art that comes out of Chicago is always wonderful and I want to be a part of it.
