Typepad / Button Installation Instructions

Installing your Contact Button on your TypePad blog is easy.

This step by step guide will take you through the installation process.

You can either install your Contact Button automatically at the end of every blog or on the Sidebar of your blog (not both). Be sure to create your button code before you start.

Install on the Sidebar of TypePad

• Step 1

  

  Sign In to TypePad.

• Step 2

  

  Click on Blogs and select the Blog you wish to add your button to.

• Step 3

  

  Click on Design.

• Step 4

  

  Click on Organize Content.

• Step 5

  

  Under Modules, Scroll down and select Embed your own HTML and then click Add this Module.

• Step 6

  

  Then paste your button code into the field labelled HTML. If desired, you can change the field labelled Label to "Button HTML" to reference the code on your design panel in future.

• Step 7

  

  Click on Save.

• Step 8

  

  The new module will then appear below where the modules are listed in the Design Panel. You can drag & drop the modules to arrange them in the order you prefer.

• Step 9

  

  Click Save Changes and you're finished!

• Display

  

  Your Contact Button will then display on the Sidebar of your blog.
  
  Please note that changes to TypePad settings sometimes take a few minutes to take effect.

Install on Your Blog Posts

Installing on your blog posts is only available if you have TypePad Pro, Premium, and Business Class memberships, which have access to the Advanced Templates on TypePad.

Users will find that their blog layout will change with the first use of Advanced Templates, due to how TypePad works. Users who do not want their existing layout changed should not choose this option. If you are an existing user of Advanced Templates, your layout will be unaffected.

• Step 1

  

  Sign In to TypePad.

• Step 2

  

  Click on Blogs and select the Blog you wish to add your button to.

• Step 3

  

  Click on Design.

• Step 4

  

  Click on Saved.

• Step 5

  

  Under Saved Advanced Template Designs either:

  • Click on Create
  • Or, if you already have created an Advanced Template, ignore Step 5 and skip to Step 6.

• Step 6

  

  Tick the Checkbox of the Advanced Template you have just created (or, if you have previously created one, tick the template of your choice).

• Step 7

  

  Then click Apply. This will then become your new Template.

• Step 8

  

  Click on Current.

• Step 9

  

  Under Advanced Templates, click on Main Index Template.

• Step 10

  

  Find the first instance of <$MTentryBody$> in the HTML code. It should be around a third of the way down the page.
  
  If you can't find this tag, left click your cursor into the code and use a word search to find MTentryBody.
  
  You can find word search either on your browser under Edit > Find, or by using Ctrl-F.
  
  

• Step 11

  

  Copy and paste your button code into the HTML, immediately after <$MTentryBody$>.

• Step 12

  

  Click Save Changes and you're finished!
  
  Your button will now automatically appear beneath each blog post.

• Display

  

  Your Contact Button will then display at the end of your blogs.
